A Few Hundred Million

An unexpected crossing of three captivating life stories. The only common ground between Ariela, Marlene and Brodi: the constant struggle for the simplest thing – breathing. All three characters are very committed to their lives as an ambitious high-performance athlete, marketing manager at the peak of her career or barista that spends most of his time doing the craziest hobbies he can think of. None of them would ever think that their stories, which seem so incoherent, become more and more entangled.
The short film “A Few Hundred Million” raises awareness about asthma. A disease around 235 million people are affected by worldwide.
This project was realised by students of the applied university of St. Pölten, driven by a group of female film makers within the digital media production department with Miriam Welcker as a screenwriter and contributions by other majors kindly supported by “Österreichische Lungenunion” next to the universities fund and sponsoring of “Bundesland Niederösterreich”. A Few Hundred Million will premier in selected cinemas in Berlin and Vienna in September 2023.
As a graphic designer, I had the honour to support the project by creating a concept folder to support the communication with important stakeholders, get funding for the project and document it.
Additionally, I designed and produced print artefacts that were later used as props on set, facilitating the discussion about treatment methods of characters in the script.
